UNITED NATIONS                                                          Return to: Fr Stan's Notes

October 2000

During the past two summers Native People from the U.S. and Canada met at
the U.N. in Geneva, Switzerland.  In 1999 Luke Cordell, a 16 year old High
School Junior and an enrolled member of the Sisseton/Wahpeton Tribe, served
the Elders as a Runner.  His duties were doing for them the menial tasks of
a huge meeting, while they discussed Land and Treaty Rights.

In July and August, 2000, Luke was invited back to talk to the Assembly
about Youth in America.

You can reach him in person at colleen@indiangifts.com   His parents, Chet
and  Colleen, have a Web Page for their business www.indiangifts.com)
