The project will produce the establishment of a 1,500 square foot digital library and long term archive of Native American photographic artifacts:

  • The digital library will hold as electronically transferable digital files and metadata thousands of original photographs.
  • Blue Cloud AICRC holdings are estimated as many as 50,000 photos that may require research for historical relevance with an estimated subset of 25,000 to be actually scanned and digitized into the library during the life of the project.
  • The library will result in creation of a modest but state-of-the art capacity to do continuing work in the preservation of photographic history as new sources are discovered.
  • The library will serve Native American and public interests as an educational and cultural resource for preserving and sharing our nation's Northern Plains American Indian cultural heritage.
  • This library contributes significantly in the creation of a path of continuity and learning of the Northern Plains Native American history.
