Hermitages sites
Our two hermitages are located in a beautiful wooded area near a lake. Trails throughout the woods and prairie invite leisurely walks while enjoying the beautiful natural surroundings.
Each hermitage is simple, yet comfortable, with an attached screened porch accessible from the inside. It contains a small kitchen, hot plate, bed, rocking chair, table, wardrobe, a devotional altar, Bible, cross and icon. There is electric heat and lights. Although there is no running water, a 3 gallon jug of water is provided and there is a well nearby for more water. There are showers at the abbey, and a clean outhouse nearby.
A monk is always close by. We protect the privacy of all guests. After you enter into your hermitage, this sacred space is yours. You will not be disturbed except at your request or for an emergency.
Planning your visit
The hermitage is open each day of the week most of year except during the deep winter. The guest will determine his or her length of stay. If possible allow at least two nights so you can experience silence and the freedom just "to be". away. In the quiet and stillness of the heart, God is there.

Pray with the Monks
The Monastic Community also invites all those who use the hermitage to join them in the celebration of the Eucharist and other times of prayer if they so desire. Below is a picture of the abbey from the hermitage trail.
