Eagle Feathers

Years ago Indians knew the "unbelievable" things of nature.  They knew about
feathers, and their function, long before Boeing put 'spoilers' on the wings
of commercial aircraft, allowing them to float in for a safe landing.

Feathers are created so, when the bird lifts and reaches, the air flows
freely upward through them.  The airflow is stopped, when the bird presses
down for power.

Watch the lifting and opening of a certain few feathers on the top of the
wing, when a bird comes to rest on the earth or water. The landing is made
smooth and without sound.

An Indian boy in love with a girl knew what the 'landing' feather can do and
what it signifies.  He took such a feather from each wing of the eagle.  He
gave one to his love and kept the other.  Only the two need know of their
love.  "Together we will fly well."  She prayed for him, when he was hunting
food for the camp.  He prayed for her, when he waited during the long
nights.
