Monday Evening Prayer
Easter Season

(Make the sign of the cross, saying:)

God, come to my assistance,
Lord, make haste to help me.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen

ANT: He was handed over to death for our sins;
he was raised to life to justify us, alleluia.

Canticle 29 (Revelation 19)
Salvation and glory and power belong to our God.
All his judgments are true and just.

Praise our God, all you his servants,
you who fear him, small and great.

The Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns.
Let us rejoice and give him the glory.

The marriage of the Lamb has come,
and his bride has made herself ready.

It was granted her to be clothed
with linen bright and pure.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen

ANT: He was handed over to death for our sins;
he was raised to life to justify us, alleluia.

[Pause and reflect on the previous psalm.]

ANT: Since you have been raised to life with Christ, seek the things that are above, alleluia.

Psalm 24 (23)
The Lord's is the earth and its fullness,
the world and all its peoples.
It is he who set it on the seas;
on the waters he made it firm.

Who shall climb the mountain of the Lord?
Who shall stand in his holy place?
Those with clean hands and pure heart,
who desire not worthless things,
(who have not sworn so as to deceive their neighbor.)

They shall receive blessings from the Lord
and reward from the God who saves them.
These are the ones who seek him,
seek the face of the God of Jacob.

O gates, lift high your heads;
grow higher, ancient doors.
Let him enter, the king of glory!

Who is the king of glory?
The Lord, the mighty, the valiant,
the Lord, the valiant in war.

O gates, lift high your heads;
grow higher, ancient doors.
Let him enter, the king of glory!

Who is he, the king of glory?
He, the Lord of armies,
he is the king of glory.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen

ANT: Since you have been raised to life with Christ, seek the things that are above, alleluia.

[Pause and reflect on the previous psalm.]

READING (Hebrews 8:1b-3a)
We have such a high priest, who has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, minister of the sanctuary and of that true tabernacle set up, not by man, but by the Lord. Now every high priest is appointed to offer gifts and sacrifices.

[Reflect on the Reading, applying it to your life today.]

ANT: This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad, alleluia.

CANTICLE OF MARY (Lk 1:46-55)
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
my spirit rejoices in God my Savior
for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.

From this day all generations will call me blessed;
the Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his Name.

He has mercy on those who fear him
in every generation.

He has shown the strength of his arm,
he has scattered the proud in their conceit.

He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,
and has lifted up the lowly.

He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.

He has come to the help of his servant Israel
for he has remembered his promise of mercy,
the promise he made to our fathers,
to Abraham and his children for ever.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen

ANT: This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad, alleluia.

INTERCESSIONS
Lord, you are always present in your Church; through your Holy Spirit guide us to the truth.

Show your mercy to the sick, the overburdened and the dying, that all may receive strength and courage from your love.

May we reflect in our daily lives the joys of your resurrection.

Lord, we pray that the glory of your resurrection may shine on our deceased brothers and sisters.

(Pray for your special intentions.)

OUR FATHER
And now we pray to God the Father in the words that Jesus taught us.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory for ever and ever. Amen

PRAYER
Almighty and ever-living God, your Spirit made us your children, confident to call you Father. Increase your Spirit of love within us and bring us to our promised inheritance. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

BLESSING
May the Lord bless us, protect us from all evil and bring us to everlasting life. Amen
