(Make the sign of the cross with your right thumb on your
lips, saying:)
Lord, open my lips and my mouth will proclaim your praise.
INVITATORY: This is the day the Lord has made;
let us rejoice and be glad, alleluia.
Psalm 2
Why this tumult among nations,
among peoples this useless murmuring?
They arise, the kings of the earth,
princes plot against the Lord and his Anointed.
"Come, let us break their fetters,
come, let us cast off their yoke."
He who sits in the heavens laughs,
the Lord is laughing them to scorn.
Then he will speak in his anger,
his rage will strike them with terror.
"It is I who have set up my king
on Zion, my holy mountain."
I will announce the decree of the Lord.
The Lord said to me, "You are my Son.
It is I who have begotten you this day.
Ask and I shall bequeath you the nations,
put the ends of the earth in your possession.
With a rod of iron you will break them,
shatter them like a potter's jar."
Now, O kings, understand,
take warning, rulers of the earth;
serve the Lord with awe and trembling,
pay him your homage
lest he be angry and you perish;
for suddenly his anger will blaze.
Blessed are they who put their trust in God.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen
This is the day the Lord has made;
let us rejoice and be glad, alleluia.
[Pause and reflect on the previous psalm.]
ANT: Christ has risen from the dead and will never die
again, alleluia.
Psalm 3
How many are my foes, O Lord;
How many are rising up against me!
How many are saying about me:
"No help will come from God."
But you, Lord, are a shield about me,
my glory, who lift up my head.
I cry aloud to you, Lord.
You answer from your holy mountain.
I lie down to rest and I sleep.
I wake, for you uphold me.
I will not fear even thousands of people
who are ranged on every side against me.
Arise, Lord; save me, my God,
you who strike all my foes on the mouth,
you who break the teeth of the wicked!
O Lord of salvation, bless your people!
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen
ANT: Christ has risen from the dead and will never die
again, alleluia.
[Pause and reflect on the previous psalm.]
READING (Romans 10:8b-10)
The word is near you, on your lips and in your heart (that is, the
word of faith which we preach). For if you confess with your lips
that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him
from the dead, you will be saved. Faith in the heart leads to
justification, confession on the lips to salvation.
[Reflect on the Reading, applying it to your life today.]
ANT: Go quickly and tell the disciples: The Lord is risen,
alleluia.
CANTICLE OF ZECHARIAH (Luke 1:68-79)
Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel;
he has come to his people and set them free.
He has raised up for us a mighty savior,
born of the house of his servant David.
Through his holy prophets he promised of old
that he would save us from our enemies,
from the hands of all who hate us.
He promised to show mercy to our fathers
and to remember his holy covenant.
This was the oath he swore to our father Abraham;
to set us free from the hands of our enemies,
free to worship him without fear,
holy and righteous in his sight all the days of our life.
You, my child, shall be called the prophet of the Most High;
for you will go before the Lord to prepare his way,
to give his people knowledge of salvation
by the forgiveness of their sins.
In the tender compassion of our God
the dawn from on high shall break upon us,
to shine on those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death,
and to guide our feet into the way of peace.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen
ANT: Go quickly and tell the disciples: The Lord is risen,
alleluia.
INTERCESSIONS
Let us today praise Jesus who has been glorified by the Father.
Lord Jesus, by your resurrection you destroyed sin and death,
help up to overcome our sins today.
Jesus grant the fullness of the joy of your resurrection to all
who serve you.
Jesus, you led all people from death to life, give eternal life
to all those we meet today.
(Pray for your special intentions.)
OUR FATHER
And now we pray to God the Father in the words that Jesus taught
us.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory for ever and
ever. Amen
PRAYER
Father, you give growth to your kingdom on earth by adding new
members to your family. Help us put into action in our lives the
baptism we have received with faith. We ask this through our Lord
Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy
Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen
BLESSING
May the Lord bless us, protect us from all evil and bring us to
everlasting life. Amen |
